Pony.ai has launched road testing of its robotaxis in Luxembourg, marking a key step in the Chinese autonomous driving company’s international growth strategy. The tests, conducted in partnership with local mobility provider Emile Weber, began in the town of Lenningen and are expected to extend to additional regions across the country.
The initiative follows the establishment of Pony.ai’s European research and development center in Luxembourg in September 2023. The center focuses on advancing autonomous vehicle technologies and is part of the company’s broader effort to build partnerships and infrastructure to support future deployments in the region.

The collaboration between Pony.ai and Emile Weber began with a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2024. Emile Weber, with a 150-year legacy in transportation services, brings operational expertise across public transit, taxis, rentals, and tourism—supporting the implementation of new mobility technologies like robotaxis.
As part of the Luxembourg deployment, Pony.ai is also working with public institutions and commercial partners to develop the necessary technical and regulatory frameworks. The company said it intends to deepen its collaboration with Emile Weber and roll out its services to more areas in Luxembourg over the coming months.
