Peugeot has reduced the price of its entry-level e-208 electric car to €28,000 in France, cutting €6,100 from the Style trim’s previous price. The discount positions the model more competitively within the growing small EV market, though prices in other markets, such as Germany, remain unchanged at €36,325.

This pricing adjustment applies exclusively to the Style trim, featuring a 100 kW motor and small battery, while other variants retain their current prices in France.

The move likely responds to a slowdown in domestic demand. Despite selling 23,602 units of the e-208 in 2024—a 4% increase year-over-year—sales dipped sharply in the second half of the year, following the expiration of France’s social leasing subsidy program.

The introduction of rival models, such as the Citroën ë-C3 starting at €23,300 and the Renault R5 priced at €27,990, has intensified competition in the segment. Peugeot’s price cut ensures the e-208 remains attractive, especially given the availability of up to €4,000 in environmental bonuses in France.

The e-208 also boasts generous standard features, including a 10-inch touchscreen, electric windows, automatic air conditioning, parking sensors, and a rain sensor, adding value to its new pricing.

The e-208 measures 4.06 meters in length, 1.75 meters in width, and 1.43 meters in height. The model underwent a facelift in 2024, introducing a third equipment line and slight price adjustments in other markets, such as Germany, where the starting price dropped below €37,000. Peugeot’s price cut in France suggests it may adopt similar strategies in other regions as competition heats up and demand patterns evolve.
