French car manufacturer Peugeot will launch its new electric car, the Peugeot e-308 in 2023. Production of the car is scheduled to start in July 2023. Peugeot itself has already made an announcement regarding the type of engine and how this car has advantages over other electric cars.

The fully electric Peugeot e-308 is armed with an engine that produces 154 horsepower (114 kilowatts) and torque that produces a force of up to 269 Newton-meters that transmits motion to the front wheels.

From the battery side, this car is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 54 kWh, where the battery capacity is 4 kWh larger than the previous e-208 series. This battery makes this car able to cover a distance of up to 400 kilometers on a single charge.

These engine, battery and torque specifications will be available in all variants of the 308 hatchback model as well as the SW Wagon. Reportedly, Peugeot will pack the battery under the seat and on the floor, with the rest of the powertrain hardware hidden under the car’s hood.

In terms of interior, Peugeot promises a slim cabin space but still comfortable for the driver and passengers. Not to forget, Peugeot also offers the same technological facilities in all models, including the ability to charge fast or fast charging 100 kilowatts.

Delivery of this car will begin after production is completed in July. Peugeot will also release information regarding its actual selling price as it approaches the launch date.

Of course it will be interesting how Peugeot positions itself among other electric car variants, including the hybrid and internal combustion or gasoline segments. As we know, this Stellantis subsidiary manufacturer is rarely heard of in the hot electric car battleground.

Peugeot project manager, Agnes Tesson-Faget said that Peugeot targets the e-308 line to contribute at least 20% of total car sales when it reaches its dealers.

Meanwhile, the hybrid version of the 308 already accounts for 20% of total sales. It will take a year of waiting to see if the fully electric version of the 308 model can achieve the same feat for Peugeot.
