Patented Images Leak, Revealing Renault 5 E-Tech Electric Hatchback Design Ahead of Global Debut

Patented images of the upcoming production-spec Renault 5 E-Tech have surfaced online, offering a glimpse of the all-electric hatchback prior to its official global unveiling on February 26. The leaked images, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), indicate a close resemblance to the 2021 concept and align with exclusive renderings previously released by Carscoops in July.

The front of the Renault 5 E-Tech showcases an updated Renault badge, accompanied by LED headlights featuring a distinctive and sharp design reminiscent of the concept model. Despite the absence of a traditional grille, the front fascia incorporates three slim horizontal slats, and a notable feature includes black squares on the bumper housing LED daytime running lights.

This four-door electric hatchback conceals rear door handles within the C-pillar, and the charging port is positioned on the front quarter panel. The model depicted in the leaked images exhibits black rocker panels, a black roof, and black pillars with red accents, contributing to its distinctive appearance.

At the rear, the Renault 5 E-Tech boasts LED taillights with an intricate light signature, complemented by a subtle spoiler extending from the roof and a black-clad bumper. The vehicle is equipped with silver and black wheels, adding to its overall aesthetic.

Measuring approximately 3.92 meters (154.3 inches) in length, the Renault 5 E-Tech is positioned as a compact option, shorter than competitors like the upcoming VW ID.2, VW Polo, and the Renault Clio. The electric hatchback utilizes Renault’s new CMF-BEV architecture, sharing 70% of its components with the CMF-B platform utilized by conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) models like the Renault Clio, Captur, and Dacia’s range of vehicles.

The electric propulsion system of the Renault 5 E-Tech will be driven by a single electric motor, with reports suggesting power output ranging between 120 horsepower and 150 horsepower. As the anticipated global debut approaches, these leaked images provide enthusiasts and industry observers with a closer look at the design and features of Renault’s latest electric offering.
