Paraclete Energy, a Michigan-based supplier of silicon anode materials, has unveiled its new product, SILO Silicon, which is set to revolutionize the lithium-ion battery market. The company plans to release this material in the final quarter of 2024.
SILO Silicon is described by Paraclete Energy as a ârevolutionary silicon anode material that will transform the Li-ion battery market, particularly the EV battery sector,â boasting âunprecedented energy density and cost efficiency.â The new material features a âunique polymer matrix architectureâ that allows for an industry-leading silicon concentration, delivering up to 300% greater energy density compared to traditional graphite anodes. It also offers over 200% improvement over competing silicon anode technologies. Additionally, SILO Silicon is projected to be â33% less expensive per kilowatt hour than traditional carbon-based products.â
Jeff Norris, CEO of Paraclete Energy, highlighted the significance of the new technology, stating, âSILO Silicon is a game-changer for the electric vehicle industry. This technology directly addresses the critical needs of the market, offering longer range, faster charging and lower costs â all essential factors in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles.â
Paraclete Energy aims to begin deliveries of SILO Silicon by late 2024, positioning itself ahead of competitors. While U.S. competition is focused on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, and Chinese rivals are constrained by import tariffs and concentrated on sodium battery technology, Paraclete Energy’s advancements represent a significant shift in the sector.
