Opel has released the first images and technical details of the new all-electric Corsa GSE, expanding its GSE performance lineup with a battery-electric hot hatch based on the Stellantis e-CMP platform.

The Corsa GSE follows the launch of the Opel Mokka GSE and continues the brand’s transition of the GSE label from plug-in hybrid models to fully electric performance vehicles.

Historically, the GSE badge stood for “Grand Sport Einspritzung” on models such as the Commodore GS/E and Monza GSE. Opel now uses the name to represent “Grand Sport Electric.”

The new Corsa GSE shares its platform, drivetrain and battery technology with the Mokka GSE. Power comes from a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 207 kW and 345 Nm of torque.

Opel said the compact electric hatchback will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating production vehicle currently offered by the brand.

The vehicle’s top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h, while the larger Mokka GSE reaches 200 km/h.

The drivetrain offers multiple operating modes. In Sport mode, the full 207 kW output is available through what Opel describes as a “racetrack”-focused calibration. Normal mode reduces output to 170 kW while maintaining maximum speed, while Eco mode prioritises efficiency and limits top speed to 150 km/h.

Opel noted that final homologation is still pending, meaning official WLTP range and consumption figures have not yet been confirmed.

The Corsa GSE uses a 54-kWh lithium-ion battery pack with 51 kWh of usable energy. According to the company, the battery’s thermal management system has been modified to handle the additional demands of the performance-oriented setup.

The automaker has also upgraded the chassis and handling systems compared with the standard Opel Corsa Electric.

The Corsa GSE features a lowered sports suspension, front-wheel drive with a Torsen limited-slip differential, revised axles, stabilisers, hydro shock absorbers and four-piston performance brakes.

Opel also introduced GSE-specific tuning for steering and pedal response to create a more dynamic driving character.

The exterior design includes a redesigned front and rear fascia, black aerodynamic accents, widened wheel arches, a black roof and rear spoiler, along with GSE badging.

The model rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with Alcon brake callipers carrying GSE branding.

Inside, the Corsa GSE receives Alcantara performance seats with integrated headrests, Alcantara trim elements, aluminium sports pedals and yellow contrast details inspired by earlier sporty Corsa models.

The cabin also includes performance-focused digital displays showing acceleration data, G-forces and battery management information through a 10-inch central touchscreen and digital instrument cluster.

Additional features include heated seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry, a 180-degree reversing camera and vehicle-to-load functionality via a bidirectional onboard charger.

Opel has not yet disclosed pricing or a precise order date for the model. The company said the Corsa GSE will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October before arriving on the market later this year.
