Autonomous vehicle startup Nuro has raised $203 million in a late-stage funding round, valuing the company at $6 billion, it said on Friday. The round included fresh investment from Uber and Nvidia, along with support from existing shareholders.
The raise comprises $97 million in new capital, adding to the $106 million announced in April from backers such as T. Rowe Price, Fidelity and Tiger Global.
The company’s current valuation is lower than the $8.6 billion it achieved in 2021, according to PitchBook, as many startups that benefited from the 2021 funding boom now face more cautious investor sentiment.
Nuro said the latest fundraising outcome reflects current market conditions. The California-based company, founded in 2016, has shifted its strategy from building delivery robots to offering its Nuro Driver technology for robotaxis, commercial fleets and personal vehicles.
The firm has teamed up with electric vehicle maker Lucid and Uber to roll out a global robotaxi service. Uber plans to deploy over 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs fitted with Nuro’s autonomous driving system across multiple markets beginning in 2026.
