NIU Launches Fastest Electric Scooter at EICMA 2021

The EICMA 2021 Milan Motorcycle Show became the moment for NIU to showcase their brand new electric motorcycle.

NIU launched a number of new electric scooters, including the MQi GT EVO which is claimed to be the fastest electric scooter. In addition, NIU also launched a hybrid model that combines gas and electric power, namely the YQi concept scooter, as quoted from Gizmochina, Monday (11/29/2021).

Another lineup of models launched by NIU during EICMA 2021, namely the RQi electric sport bike, NQi GTS, and BQi KQi. These NIU products offer the right mix of choice, range, efficiency and convenience, as well as competitive prices.

The MQi GT EVO can reach a top speed of 100 km/h with a 5 kW (6.7 hp) hub motor. The electric scooter has two 72V 26Ah batteries that can be driven up to 85 km on a single charge.

The design philosophy behind the EVO is to make it a fun bike from the moment you get on and hit the gas. The EVO can accelerate from 0 to 60km/h in six seconds. The electric scooter also features a keyless start, electric anti-theft steering column lock and profile sharing to enable those who will use the electric scooter without a key.

The MQi GT EVO will be sold in Europe with a price tag of €4,999 or equivalent to USD 5668, which is equipped with connectivity and application support services for three years.

Meanwhile, the NIU YQi concept scooter is a hybrid model that adds a gas-powered engine to the electric drivetrain. NIU hopes YQi will help gas-powered bikes eventually transition to electric power.

14.5 kW of power can be generated between the gas motor and electric engine, with a top speed of 110 km/h. It will have a 150cc liquid-cooled engine and a center-mounted 2400W electric motor.

The combined power available to the YQi means it can reach the top speed and acceleration time equivalent to a 250cc+ motorcycle.

Another NIU model on display during EICMA 2021 is the RQi sports electric motorcycle. This electric scooter has a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The RQi is equipped with a mid-drive electric motor with a chain transmission. For its power source, it uses two 72V 36Ah batteries.

This removable NIU battery can also be charged using household electricity. By using the fast charging system, the charging time is claimed to be only 4 hours.

In full condition, this motorbike can cover a distance of up to 110 km. And, speaking of prices, this electric sport bike is priced at €6,999 or around USD7,935.
