Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NIO has announced the delivery schedule for its highly anticipated flagship SUV, the new ES8. In conjunction with the upcoming release, the company has reduced the price of the highest-priced version by RMB 10,000 ($1,400).
Starting from June 24, NIO showrooms will gradually showcase the new ES8 as show cars. Potential buyers will have the opportunity to lock in their orders, test drive the vehicle, and deliveries will commence on June 28.
The new ES8 was initially launched during NIO Day on December 24, 2022. This marked the company’s transition to the NT 2.0 platform, which serves as the foundation for its first production vehicle.
With dimensions measuring 5,099 mm in length, 1,989 mm in width, 1,750 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,070 mm, the new ES8 is specifically designed to target the luxury SUV market, competing with brands like Land Rover.
Under the hood, the vehicle boasts NIO’s second-generation electric drive platform, delivering an impressive maximum drive power of 480 kW and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, the ES8 offers remarkable performance.
The new ES8 is available in three editions: Regular, Executive, and Signature. On June 12, NIO introduced changes to its battery swap benefits. Previously offered free of charge several times a month, battery swaps are now optional, resulting in a price reduction of RMB 30,000 for all models.
Consequently, the starting prices for the new ES8, including the battery, are as follows: RMB 498,000 for the Regular Edition, RMB 518,000 for the Executive Edition, and RMB 608,000 for the Signature Edition.
In an exciting development, NIO has recently announced a further adjustment to the price of the Signature Edition. It will now be available for RMB 598,000, offering customers an additional RMB 10,000 reduction.
Furthermore, the Signature Edition of the ES8 comes equipped with standard features such as an in-car refrigerator and 22-inch forged wheels. The Executive Edition receives added Nappa interior trim and a refrigerator as standard, while the Regular Edition is upgraded with Nappa interior trim.
It’s important to note that NIO has discontinued the practice of providing free battery swaps multiple times per month as a standard offering. Customers who wish to benefit from this service when purchasing the new ES8 will need to pay an additional RMB 30,000.
