Nio will showcase its all-new third-generation ES8 SUV on August 21 at Nio Day 2025, updating its first mass-produced model with new dimensions, technology, and battery capacity.

The product and technology presentation will take place in Chengdu, Sichuan province, at 7:30 pm Beijing time. The new ES8, which will go on sale next month, features a 102-kWh battery pack offering a CLTC range of 635 kilometers, the same used in Nio’s executive ET9 sedan.

The SUV will be available in six- and seven-seat configurations and is larger than its predecessor, measuring 5,280 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width, 1,800 mm in height, with a 3,250 mm wheelbase.

Nio founder and CEO William Li is currently driving a fleet of the new ES8 toward the foot of Mount Everest to demonstrate usability comparable to gasoline vehicles, supported by the company’s battery swap network. As of the sixth day of the journey, the fleet has covered 1,723 kilometers.

The ES8, first introduced in December 2017 on the NT 1.0 platform and updated in 2022 to the NT 2.0 platform, remains Nio’s flagship SUV with a starting price of RMB 498,000 ($69,450) including the battery.

In the first seven months of 2025, ES8 deliveries reached 4,199 units, a 19.9% decline compared with the same period last year, though July alone saw 1,090 units delivered, marking a monthly high since January.
