Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio Inc said it will introduce new limited-edition versions of its ET5 electric sedan and ET5 Touring wagon next Tuesday, as it looks to support sales amid broader market softness toward the end of the year.
The company said via its mobile app that the limited editions, due to launch on Dec. 16, will feature an exclusive purple exterior package. Nio did not disclose pricing or further specifications but released several images of the vehicles.

The move follows a series of special editions rolled out in recent months. In July, Nio launched higher-priced Champion Edition variants of the ET5, ET5 Touring and EC6 coupe SUV, while in October it introduced a black-themed ET5 Touring inspired by the sci-fi film Tron: Ares, limited to 555 units.
Earlier this week, regulatory filings showed Nio had also registered new Clean Parks Edition variants for the ET5 and ET5 Touring, linked to its environmental initiative unveiled at Nio Day 2021.

Nio delivered 36,275 vehicles in November, marking its second-highest monthly total on record despite a month-on-month decline driven by weaker deliveries at its Onvo sub-brand. The November figure represented a 76.31% increase from a year earlier but a 10.20% decline from October’s record 40,397 units.
