Nio has opened a configurator for its third-generation ES8 SUV, allowing Chinese consumers to secure early reservations ahead of the model’s official launch later this month.
The electric vehicle maker said the configurator and wish list are now available through its mobile app. The announcement comes shortly after Nio began offering test drives for the new ES8 on September 10, drawing strong interest from customers. Stores across China have extended operating hours to meet demand, with some locations scheduling late-night test drives.

The company recommends its six-seat Executive Signature Edition, which features high-definition projection headlights, smart dimming glass, 22-inch forged alloy wheels, upgraded four-piston calipers and an exclusive design package. Customers can also choose from six exterior colors, four interior schemes and three wheel rim styles.
Nio continues to promote its Battery as a Service (BaaS) plan, which reduces upfront costs by RMB 108,000 ($15,170) and lowers taxes and annual insurance. The plan requires a monthly rental fee of RMB 1,128, while the standard version of the ES8 comes with a 100-kWh battery pack and a pre-sales starting price of RMB 416,800. Under BaaS, the starting price is RMB 308,800.

The third-generation ES8 will be formally launched at Nio Day 2025 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, on September 20. Orders are expected to open around 10:00 p.m. that evening, following the official pricing announcement.
