Nio has begun displaying Coca-Cola advertisements at some of its battery swap stations, marking the first time the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer has opened its infrastructure to third-party branding.
According to the company, 32 of its battery swap stations are now designated as co-branded theme sites featuring Coca-Cola advertisements. This initiative represents Nio’s first external advertising campaign across its network of 3,555 battery swap stations, including 1,003 located along highways across China.

The move is seen as part of Nio’s effort to diversify engagement around its charging infrastructure, though it remains unclear whether the campaign will generate advertising revenue. For years, Nio avoided placing advertisements on its facilities, maintaining a minimalist and clean design. About a year ago, the company began promoting its own fast battery swap capabilities on station exteriors.
The Coca-Cola-themed battery swap stations are currently located in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chengdu. As part of the campaign, Nio will host 24 offline events offering free Coca-Cola to visitors.

Nio continues to expand its battery swap ecosystem, having recently surpassed 90 million cumulative battery swaps as of October 27. The company now performs over 100,000 swaps daily, a sharp rise from its early milestones—reaching 1 million swaps within 29 months of launching the first station in 2018, and 10 million swaps by mid-2022.
