NIO has officially launched its highly anticipated 2023 model year ET7 sedan at the Shanghai auto show. The company’s founder, chairman, and CEO, William Li, announced that the new model is now available for pre-order and order lock-ins, with deliveries set to begin in mid-May.
The ET7 is NIO’s flagship sedan and was originally introduced at the NIO Day 2020 event on January 9, 2021, with deliveries starting on March 28, 2022. The 2023 model brings more than 15 updates and upgrades, including improved seats and a 40w wireless charging panel for cell phones, all at the same prices as the previous model.
According to Li, the improved ET7 offers a more comfortable ride, a more refined interior, and a smarter experience, continuing to lead the direction of change for premium smart electric mid to large size sedans.
The new ET7 is available in two versions, with prices starting at RMB 458,000 ($66,600) for the version with the 75-kWh pack and RMB 516,000 for the version with the 100-kWh long-range pack. Customers can also choose the BaaS (battery as a service) option, which starts at RMB 388,000 for both models, with monthly battery rental costs of RMB 980 and RMB 1,680, respectively.
In addition to the two standard versions, NIO is offering a signature edition with a 100-kWh battery pack, starting at RMB 536,000 including the battery. The BaaS plan for the signature edition starts at RMB 408,000, with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 1,680.
To further entice customers, NIO is offering a 10-year unlimited mileage warranty, four free battery swaps per month, and free lifetime internet connectivity for 2023 ET7 customers. Customers who place a deposit before June will also receive a free home charger worth RMB 7,500. Alternatively, they can opt for two additional free battery swap services per month.
Those who order before June will also receive two years of free NOP (Navigate on Pilot) Plus, valued at RMB 9,120. The formal version of NOP+ will be available in subscription mode starting July 1 for RMB 380 per month.
NIO’s intelligent driving software NAD (NIO Autonomous Driving) will also be available on a monthly subscription basis for RMB 680 per month. However, there is no clear timeline for the software’s availability.
In addition to the ET7, NIO also debuted the revamped ES6 SUV, which is available for pre-order with an official launch in late May. The ES6 features improved performance and a sleeker design, making it a viable competitor to other luxury SUVs in the market.
With the launch of the 2023 ET7 and revamped ES6, NIO is continuing to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and solidify its position as a leader in the industry.
NIO also unveiled its latest offering, the ES6 SUV, at the Shanghai Auto Show today. While the exact specifications and prices of the model are yet to be announced, NIO has already started accepting reservations with a deposit of RMB 5,000. The official launch is slated for late May, and deliveries are expected to begin shortly thereafter.
William Li, NIO’s founder, announced that the ES6 SUV would be in high demand and urged customers to reserve their models soon. “We are confident that the ES6 will be very popular with our customers,” he said. “So, we encourage interested buyers to book their vehicles early.”
To sweeten the deal, NIO has offered exciting benefits to customers who purchase the ES6 SUV before July 31. This includes a Moon theme package with orange calipers worth RMB 8,000 and NOP+ two years free access worth RMB 9,120. Additionally, first-time owners of the ES6 will receive a 10-year unlimited mileage warranty, up to six free battery swaps per month, and free internet access.
According to an article in the NIO App, deliveries of the ES6 SUV will start in late May, following the order lock-in and reservation payment. The show cars of the new ES6 and the vehicles used for test drives are expected to be available in NIO stores from May onwards.
The ES6 SUV is the latest addition to NIO’s range of electric vehicles, and it comes with several upgrades from its predecessor, the ES8. While the ES6 SUV boasts a sporty design and a spacious interior, it also features an upgraded battery pack and motor for better performance and increased range.
