Nio has inked a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhejiang EV-Tech Co Ltd, a local component supplier backed by Nio Capital, to co-develop and manufacture components for high-voltage system applications.

The agreement, signed on March 1 in Shanghai, where Nio is headquartered, focuses on a high-voltage system project. According to EV-Tech, the collaboration will center on developing products based on Nio’s STEM Young high-voltage architecture platform.

The partnership aims to create intelligent power units (IPUs) that can be shared across different vehicle models, enhancing product development efficiency and reducing costs. The IPUs will be adaptable to various multi-brand and multi-platform models and are expected to be integrated into Nio’s brand and second brand vehicles starting in 2025.

Additionally, the two companies will collaborate on exploratory research and joint development of emerging technologies in the high-voltage systems space.

EV-Tech, which has been a previous supplier to Nio, has received the Quality Excellence Partner Award from Nio for three consecutive years.

The announcement did not provide specific details regarding Nio’s models, although it appears to reference the ET9 executive flagship sedan unveiled at Nio Day 2023. The ET9 will be the first Nio model built on a platform with more than 800 V, as opposed to the industry-standard 400 V system.
