Nikola recently announced that it has achieved a notable increase in retail deliveries of its Tre battery-electric trucks during the second quarter. This development has resulted in a year-to-date total of 99 trucks delivered to customers. Furthermore, Nikola has reported the sale of 76 trucks through wholesale channels and the completion of construction for 96 trucks. The company is scheduled to release its financial results on August 4.

Nikola’s CEO, Michael Lohscheller, commented on the positive momentum experienced by the company. “Being a pioneer in the zero-emission Class 8 truck sector is no easy task, but we are observing a significant surge in momentum,” he stated during the delivery update. Lohscheller expressed satisfaction with the current accomplishments and the growing number of orders for their forthcoming hydrogen-fuel-cell-electric truck. He believes that Nikola is well-positioned for success as they move forward together.

In recent news, Nikola unveiled a business optimization plan that places a stronger emphasis on zero emissions truck production in North America and the development of their Hyla hydrogen fueling business. The company has plans to introduce a Class 8 hydrogen-fuel-cell-electric truck in the third quarter, and they have already received 178 sales orders from 14 customers.

To streamline their production processes, Nikola has consolidated their production activities at the Coolidge plant in Arizona. This strategic move allows for the efficient assembly of both hydrogen and battery-electric trucks on a single line, leading to improved operational efficiency.

As part of their optimization efforts, Nikola has made some adjustments to their workforce, reducing approximately 150 positions in Europe and 120 positions in North America. These changes align with the company’s strategy and aim for a leaner organizational structure.

With Nikola’s increased focus on retail deliveries, plans for the launch of their hydrogen-fuel-cell-electric truck, and ongoing efforts in the zero-emission truck market, the company appears poised for further advancements and success.
