According to the EPA website, Tesla is known to be preparing a Model Y variant with a range of 279 miles and an AWD powertrain.

On the website, there is a new variant of the Model Y AWD which has the same powertrain and efficiency ratings that are almost identical to the Model Y Long Range AWD currently on the market. But what makes the difference is the range, which is 279 miles, not 330 miles per charge.

In the market, Tesla only issued two variants of the Model Y, namely:

  • Model Y Long Range AWD with 330 miles of range and starting at $60,000
  • Model Y Performance with 303 miles of range and starting at $65,000

Meanwhile the Model Y Standard Range RWD was discontinued because Elon Musk was not happy with the range.

Tesla is known to have a new technology 4680 cells. So the latest listing is likely to show a variant of the Y model with the latest battery technology.

The 4860 cells has been introduced as a next-generation technology that promises longer ranges and faster charging times for Tesla vehicles, so it will likely first appear in the new version of the Model Y.
