Navier, a Bay Area startup specializing in maritime electrification, has reached a significant milestone by commencing commercial production of its flagship electric hydrofoiling boat, the N30. The company has successfully delivered its first model, the N30 Pioneer Edition, to a customer in California, marking a swift accomplishment just 2.5 years after unveiling its initial prototype.

Founded by two MIT alumni, Navier aims to revolutionize watercraft design by integrating hydrofoils, electrification, advanced composites, and intelligent software to create a sustainable vessel that drastically reduces running costs by up to 90%. The N30 is recognized as the first all-electric hydrofoiling boat in the U.S. market and boasts the longest range of any electric boat globally, capable of traveling nearly 100 miles at cruising speed on a single charge.

During the delivery celebration at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, Navier founder and CEO Sampriti Bhattacharyya emphasized the significance of this achievement for both Navier and the broader American maritime industry. She stated, “We started Navier to build the next generation of clean, highly efficient marine vessels… By delivering the most high-tech electric boat available today in just two and a half years, we’re putting ‘America’ back in ‘maritime.’”

The N30 measures thirty feet in length and is powered by twin 90 kW propulsion systems, featuring aerospace-grade redundancies for enhanced safety. When hydrofoiling, the vessel glides over waves up to four feet high, providing a smoother and quieter ride than traditional boats. In its standard configuration, the N30 can travel over 75 nautical miles at a speed of 20 knots (23 mph) and incorporates Navier’s proprietary maritime technology, including an advanced flight control system, navigation platform, and various sensors.

With the first delivery completed, Navier plans to maintain its agile approach, with ten builds of the N30 Pioneer Edition already pre-sold for 2024. Future deliveries are expected to serve luxury hospitality clients and individual buyers, further establishing Navier’s presence in the electric boating market.
