German food logistics company Nagel-Group has expanded its electric truck fleet with 20 additional vehicles and opened fast-charging stations at four sites as part of its broader transition to low-emission transport.
The new additions include six Volvo FH Aero Electric trucks and 14 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 models. The rollout began in March and will continue through the second and fourth quarters of 2025, the company said.

The Volvo trucks will operate from Nagel-Group’s facilities in Bochum, Borgholzhausen, and Hamburg, covering approximately 150,000 km annually with a range of up to 300 km on a full charge. The Mercedes-Benz trucks, with a longer range of about 500 km, will be based at sites including Gotha and Groß-Gerau.
To support the electric fleet, Nagel-Group has installed high-power 400 kW charging infrastructure with 12 charging points at four of its logistics hubs. The charging systems, powered by solar energy, feature intelligent load management technology. The company also plans to implement a battery storage system for its photovoltaic array at the Bochum site later this year to help power both its electric vehicles and cooling systems.

“Our first electric semi-trailer trucks have been in use since 2022,” said Carsten Taucke, CEO of Nagel-Group. “In introducing the new vehicles, we aim to integrate more e-trucks into our transport network to start replacing conventional diesel vehicles.”
