Munro Vehicles, a UK startup, has made waves in the auto industry with the recent unveiling of its first electric vehicle, the MK_1. Dubbed as the world’s most capable all-electric 4×4, the MK_1 boasts impressive features and capabilities that can rival even the most established off-road vehicles in the market.
Despite the ongoing patent infringement suit filed against the company by Bollinger Motors, Munro Vehicles remains steadfast in its mission to develop and scale up the MK_1. In fact, the vehicle made its public debut at the Low Carbon Agriculture 2023 show in Stoneleigh, UK, where its potential to revolutionize the agriculture and other demanding terrain-based sectors was highlighted.

The MK_1’s robust design is built on a body-on-frame chassis, with a standard central locking differential, optional front and rear locking differentials, and a two-speed transfer box. The vehicle’s impressive 480-millimeter (19 inches) ground clearance enables a maximum water fording depth of 800 mm (31.5 in), and impressive approach and departure angles of 84 and 51 degrees, respectively, with a 148-degree ramp breakover angle.
Beyond agriculture and demanding terrain-based sectors, the MK_1 offers a range of up to 190 miles (305 kilometers) from an 82-kWh battery pack and the flexibility to tackle off-road trails for up to 16 hours on a single battery charge. This makes it suitable for use in construction, mining, environmental, emergency rescue, remote infrastructure maintenance, and even recreation.
The MK_1 boasts two electric powertrains, one delivering 220 kilowatts (295 horsepower) and another producing 280 kW (375 hp), allowing it to go from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.9 seconds. The vehicle can also take DC fast charging at up to 100 kW, with a charging time of 36 minutes from 15 to 80 percent. Charging from a 22-kW AC source takes around three hours to go from 15 to 100 percent.
Other key specifications of the MK_1 include a 3,500-kilogram (7,716-pound) towing rating, 1,000-kg (2,204-lb) payload, and a torque of 516 pound-feet (700 Newton-meters) at up to 50 mph (80 km/h). The top speed of the MK_1 is limited to 80 mph (129 km/h).

Production and deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year. With its impressive capabilities, the Munro MK_1 is set to make a big impact in the automotive industry and pave the way for more eco-friendly, off-road vehicles in the future.
