The only car manufacturer from Scotland, Munro Vehicles, has officially launched the Munro Mk1 which is claimed to be the most capable 4WD electric off-road car in the world.
Munro Mk1 itself was made with the aim of operating vehicles for construction, mining, agriculture, and others with a zero emission electric powertrain but still as powerful as a diesel or gasoline off-road car.
The Munro Mk1 comes in two electric motor options, namely a 220 kW or 280 kW electric motor with up to 700 Nm of torque. Apart from that, this electric off-road car also offers the option of a 61 kWh or 82 kWh battery pack.
Unlike other 4WD electric off-road cars, the Munro Mk1 is equipped with only one electric motor. Munro himself argued for a more compact 4Ć4 layout and a more balanced 50:50 weight distribution.
Munro Mk1 is claimed to have a range of up to 306 km or 16 hours on a single charge depending on the motor and battery options selected. Recharging can be done overnight with standard charging or in 30 minutes with fast charging.
This electric off-road car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, four times more powerful than the prototype shown by Munro earlier. However, the top speed is limited to 129 km/h.
All Munro Mk1 units will be handmade from 2023. Munro plans to increase production to 250 units in 2024 and then 2,500 annually once its new facility is built in central Scotland. Munro Mk1 itself is priced at Ā£ 49,995
