Danish EV charging software provider Monta has expanded its European charging network through a partnership with charging platform Plugsurfing, enabling businesses using its platform to access more than 1.1 million public charging points across the continent.

The integration is delivered through the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) roaming standard, allowing charging operators on Monta’s platform to connect to Plugsurfing’s network without signing additional agreements or completing separate technical integrations.

Roaming Network More Than Doubles

According to Monta, the partnership increases the number of charging points available through its roaming network from approximately 600,000 to more than 1.1 million across 26 European countries.

The company said the agreement expands its overall coverage of public charging infrastructure in Europe to around 80%.

Behind the scenes, Plugsurfing will manage operational functions including charging network agreements, data quality, invoicing and financial reconciliation.

Monta said its customers will continue to manage all commercial activities through its own platform without establishing a direct relationship with Plugsurfing.

Simplified Access for Charging Operators

Based in Copenhagen, Monta provides software for businesses operating EV charging infrastructure, including charging station management, billing, payment services and energy management tools.

The company said its platform currently supports more than 600 hardware models and is used by over 40 e-mobility service providers across Europe.

The new partnership is intended to simplify roaming by allowing charging operators to expand network access while continuing to manage their businesses through a single platform.

Tom Rowlands, Managing Director of Global EV Solutions at Plugsurfing’s parent company, Corpay, said the collaboration is aimed at making charging more accessible for both operators and drivers.

“Roaming connections like this are what make charging simpler at scale. By connecting Plugsurfing’s European network to Monta’s infrastructure, operators can extend their coverage and improve the driver experience without taking on the operational work behind it.”

He added:

“Charging should just work for drivers, and stay simple for the businesses serving them.”

The partnership reflects continued efforts within Europe’s electric vehicle charging sector to improve interoperability between networks and provide drivers with broader access to public charging infrastructure through unified software platforms.
