MojaEV is set to supply 100 NETA V electric vehicles to taxi drivers in Nairobi, marking a significant step in Kenya’s push toward electric vehicle (EV) adoption. This initiative is part of a broader plan by the company to deliver an additional 500 electric vehicles by mid-2025, contributing to the country’s ongoing efforts to electrify its transportation system.
As of now, 20 of the 100 NETA V electric cars have been handed over to local taxi drivers, with the remaining vehicles expected to be delivered by the end of the year. This initiative comes at a time when Kenya is increasingly focusing on sustainable transportation solutions. MojaEV’s plan aims to reduce emissions and offer affordable, eco-friendly alternatives to traditional vehicles in Nairobi, where about 60% of the population relies on public transport daily.
The NETA V electric SUV, equipped with a 40.7-kWh battery, a 70 kW electric motor, and a torque of 150 Nm, offers a promising solution for local taxi services. The vehicle’s battery can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes using a DC fast charger, while home charging takes approximately eight hours using a wall box station. MojaEV’s efforts to bring affordable electric vehicles to the local market are a response to the rising demand for cleaner transport options in Kenya.
In addition to the NETA V, MojaEV also offers SUVs from Chinese manufacturer Skyworth. The company recently delivered three luxury Skyworth SUVs to clients in Nairobi. With a growing interest in both electric cars and motorbikes, Kenya’s transport sector is poised to benefit from MojaEV’s push to meet the demand for more efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles.
