Tesla has introduced the Model Y L in China, offering buyers a larger version of its best-selling sport utility vehicle with enhanced comfort and upgraded features.

The new model addresses one of the most frequent complaints among existing Tesla owners: overheating wireless phone chargers.

The Model Y L, which is longer than the original version, adds a more spacious interior, redesigned front seats with adjustable headrests, captain’s chairs in the second row, mechanical armrests, and B-pillar air vents for improved airflow. The design changes are aimed at boosting comfort for both drivers and passengers.

One of the more notable upgrades is to the vehicle’s wireless charging system. Many Tesla owners have criticized earlier models for slow charging and excessive heat build-up when using wireless chargers.

To resolve this, Tesla has added small air vents between the charging pads that blow cool air directly onto phones, helping maintain stable temperatures. The driver’s side charger has also been upgraded to support 50W charging, while the passenger side supports 30W.

The improvement is intended to reduce overheating issues and prevent interruptions, such as smartphones displaying high-temperature warnings. While a relatively small change, the feature could improve day-to-day convenience and differentiate the Model Y L from earlier Tesla vehicles.
