Truck charging specialist Milence is set to open its second charging hub in the Netherlands, expanding its presence with a new site in Zwolle, Overijssel, scheduled for December. This follows the joint venture’s initial hub in Venlo near the Dutch-German border.
Milence, a joint venture of Daimler Truck, Traton, and the Volvo Group, plans to install the new charging hub in the Hessenpoort industrial estate in Zwolle. The location is described as a logistics hub with numerous logistics and distribution centers, production facilities, and service providers. It is strategically positioned near the A28 and A50 motorways, serving as a critical point in the North Sea-Baltic corridor that connects major seaports such as Rotterdam and Hamburg.

The development of the charging hub will occur in two stages. Initially, four CCS chargers will be available, providing electric trucks with eight charging bays. According to Milence, the first phase will also include the future installation of an MCS charger assigned to two charging bays. From December, the facility will feature sanitary facilities, a drivers’ lounge, and vending machines with drinks and snacks.
The second expansion phase will introduce additional MCS chargers and increase the number of charging bays to 16. Milence also plans to enhance the facility with more sanitary amenities and vending machines.

Milence CEO Anja van Niersen emphasized the strategic importance of the new charging hub, stating, “With the already operational charging hub in Venlo and the recent opening of the hub in Port of Antwerp-Bruges, the network expansion in the Benelux region will provide robust support to logistics companies and shippers and will enable the operation of multiple electric routes, thereby helping these businesses achieve their sustainability goals.”
In recent months, Milence has announced several new charging parks, including its first two locations in Germany. The company aims to establish at least 1,700 high-power charging points across Europe by 2027. Currently, Milence operates three locations: Venlo in the Netherlands, Heudebouville in France, and the port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium.
