During the prestigious Monterey Car Week in August, Automobili Pininfarina unveiled its first one-off vehicle, the Battista Targamerica, which has now been revealed to have been purchased by basketball legend and business mogul Michael Jordan. The keys to this bespoke electric hypercar were handed over to Jordan earlier this month in the U.S.
With an estimated net worth of $3.5 billion, the former NBA star fits the profile of a collector willing to invest in a custom vehicle of this caliber. The Battista Targamerica is notable for its unique design, featuring a roofless configuration that enhances its aesthetic appeal while limiting practicality. Pininfarina has also crafted a new rear decklid for this special edition.
The exterior finish of the Battista Targamerica is distinctive, showcasing Liquido Gloss (silver) body panels complemented by Iconica Blu Gloss accents. This color scheme draws inspiration from the 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Spider, which was previously owned by Gianni Agnelli, the former head of Fiat. The car is further enhanced by a special set of ceramic-polished alloy wheels with black anodized aluminum center caps.
Jordan’s attention to detail extends to the interior, which is primarily clad in tan leather upholstery with select elements featuring black leather. Notably, at Jordan’s request, Pininfarina designed a small cigar holder and humidor made from aluminum and glass, capable of holding up to three cigars, positioned conveniently between the seats.
Like its standard counterpart, the Battista Targamerica is powered by four electric motors that deliver an impressive 1,874 horsepower and 1,726 lb-ft (2,340 Nm) of torque. This powertrain allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than two seconds.
