Mercedes-Benz has removed the EQB electric SUV from its online configurator and will produce only vehicles already ordered before shifting to its successor, the “GLB with EQ technology,” which will launch in early 2026.
The Stuttgart-based automaker plans to introduce the new compact electric SUV on its MMA platform, which supports 800-volt architecture and is expected to deliver significant gains in charging capacity and range.
The upcoming model, scheduled for unveiling in 2026, is forecast to offer more than 600 km of range, charging rates of up to 325 kW, and multiple drivetrain options.
Since its market debut in 2021, the EQB has been one of Mercedes’ best-selling entry-level EVs, particularly among families seeking spacious interiors and an optional third row of seats.
More than 21,000 units were sold in Germany through 2024 despite limitations in charging speed compared to rivals such as Hyundai’s Ioniq 5.
Production of the EQB at Mercedes’ Kecskemét plant in Hungary will wind down as operations are retooled for the new model, while combustion versions of the GLB will continue to be manufactured in Mexico. The EQA will also remain in production until its replacement arrives.
