Mercedes-Benz is expanding its electric vehicle lineup in the US with the introduction of an 81-kWh battery option for the 2025 eSprinter. Priced at $61,250, the new variant will be available in the second half of the year, offering customers a more affordable alternative to the existing 113-kWh battery model.
The eSprinter, which has been available with the larger battery option, will now also come with the 81-kWh battery variant, offering different wheelbase and roof height options to cater to various customer needs. All variants of the eSprinter have a permissible gross vehicle weight of up to 9,370 pounds, with a maximum payload of up to 3,516 pounds.
In terms of cargo volume, the eSprinter offers up to 319 cubic feet with the smaller battery option, and up to 488 cubic feet with the larger battery option and the longer wheelbase. The new 81-kWh battery variant offers a range of about 204 miles, while the 113-kWh battery variant can go up to 297 miles on a single charge.
According to Iain Forsyth, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans USA, “Daily delivery vehicles generally follow a fixed predictable route that is usually under 150 miles – making the eSprinter the perfect solution for last-mile-deliveries.”
The eSprinter is also equipped with an electric motor with 100 kW and a 115 kW peak power, and can charge with up to 115 kW. Fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent of full capacity can be achieved in just over 30 minutes.
Mercedes-Benz initially launched the eSprinter in the US in February, offering only the 113-kWh battery variant. It is not yet clear if the smaller 56-kWh battery option available in Europe will also be made available in the US.
