Mercedes-Benz Vans has recently introduced a comprehensive facelift for its mid-sized series, catering to both private and commercial users. This refresh includes the renowned all-electric models, the EQV, and eVito, in addition to other variants. While the focus remains on exterior and interior design updates, the company has also prioritized comfort, safety, and functionality improvements.

One significant aspect of this development is that there are no changes to the existing drive systems. The brand aims to bridge the gap towards a fully electric future, having already launched the third generation of the V-Class (internally known as the 447 series) in 2014. Moreover, Mercedes-Benz Vans introduced the VAN.EA platform in mid-May, which will serve as the foundation for all forthcoming medium-sized and large vans from 2026, solidifying the commitment to electric mobility. By 2030, the company aims to increase the share of all-electric vans to 50 percent, leaving behind the prospects of introducing new combustion engine generations for the V-Class or its current electric models.

The EQV, designed for private customers, and the eVito panel van and eVito Tourer for commercial passenger transport, will retain their familiar drive systems. The EQV will be offered in EQV 250 (60 kWh) and EQV 300 (90 kWh) variants, each boasting 150 kW engine output. However, the eVito variants will follow a slightly different nomenclature. Despite the extensive 25-page press release detailing the model update, specific technical data remains undisclosed.

Distinctive changes are evident in the updated exterior design, especially the enlarged front radiator grille. For the EQV, the front grille adopts a “black panel” style with an illuminated background, seamlessly blending with the vehicle’s paintwork or creating a striking contrast. The rear also witnesses subtle yet noticeable alterations, with redesigned LED lights and a new chrome trim bar displaying the iconic Mercedes-Benz lettering exclusive to the EQV.

Inside the vehicles, Mercedes-Benz Vans introduces a new cockpit layout, inspired by their passenger car models. The EQV showcases a unified unit featuring two 12.3-inch widescreen displays, housing the speedometer display for the driver on the left and a touchscreen for the MBUX infotainment system on the right. Previously, the EQV featured a conventional cockpit with round instruments and a separate tablet-like touchscreen. The eVito, tailored for commercial customers, comes with a 5.5-inch instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen, tailored to meet professional needs, according to Mercedes-Benz Vans.

Emphasizing their commitment to providing valuable vans and services, Mercedes-Benz Vans has not overlooked updates in the realm of electromobility and digital experiences. Customers of the eVito will particularly benefit from services linked to MBUX, now installed in commercial vans. Notable offerings include the EV route planning “Navigation with Electric Intelligence” that automatically plans charging stops, as well as access to Mercedes me Charge and Plug&Charge capabilities.

To cater to evolving customer demands, Mercedes-Benz Vans has enhanced standard equipment and streamlined functional features by bundling them into comprehensive packages. For example, sliding doors on the driver’s side are now factory-fitted in the V-Class and EQV, eliminating the need for optional upgrades. Similarly, the electric tailgate is introduced for the first time in the eVito Tourer, exemplifying the company’s commitment to meeting customer expectations.

In line with their new business strategy, Mercedes-Benz Vans remains determined to secure a leadership position in electromobility and digital experiences. The recent facelift marks a step towards an all-electric future, with plans to increase the proportion of electric vans in their lineup in the coming decade. As the automotive industry continues to embrace sustainability and innovation, Mercedes-Benz Vans strives to stay at the forefront of these transformative trends.
