Mercedes-Benz is deploying nearly 5,000 electric vans to Amazon’s European delivery partners, marking the automaker’s largest electric vehicle delivery to date. The rollout will take place over the coming months across five European countries, with over 2,500 vehicles bound for Germany alone.
Three-quarters of the new fleet are the larger eSprinter vans, while the rest are compact eVito panel vans. According to Amazon, this electric fleet will help deliver more than 200 million parcels annually across the region.
The milestone expands on an existing partnership formed in 2020, when Amazon first integrated over 1,800 Mercedes electric vans into its logistics network. Mercedes-Benz, which joined Amazon’s Climate Pledge that same year, says the collaboration reflects a shared vision for carbon-neutral transport by 2040.
“Our eVito and eSprinter are perfectly tailored to meet the demands of our commercial customers regarding efficiency and range,” said Sagree Sardien, head of sales & marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans, in a company statement.
Designed with delivery operations in mind, both van models feature underfloor batteries to preserve cargo space, and come equipped with the MBUX multimedia system, offering smart routing and access to charging infrastructure. Amazon’s vans also include custom shelving and a sliding door for easier access between the cabin and cargo area.
The eVito, manufactured in Vitoria, Spain, is targeted at last-mile urban delivery needs. It offers two battery options—60 kWh or 90 kWh—and motor outputs of up to 150 kW, supporting ranges of up to 480 km (298 miles). The eSprinter, built in Düsseldorf, offers greater versatility with three battery sizes, two vehicle lengths, and a maximum cargo volume of 14 cubic meters. Its range reaches up to 484 km (300 miles), with a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 4.25 tonnes.
