Lyft has completed 100 million electric vehicle (EV) rides across its North American platform, achieving the milestone several months ahead of its 2025 goal. The company said the result reflects the continued expansion of its EV initiatives and increasing participation from drivers in electrification programs.
Lyft reported that more than 44,000 drivers have taken part in its EV programs, which include charging discounts, bonuses, and home-charging support. In 2024, drivers collectively saved about $2 million in charging costs and earned approximately $24.3 million in EV bonuses in California, where EV adoption among Lyft drivers is highest.

“This milestone proves that our EV incentives, developed in close collaboration with key partners, are working — and they’re serving drivers,” said Jeremy Bird, Lyft’s Executive Vice President of Driver Experience. Lyft has collaborated with charging providers such as EVgo, Electrify America, and EVCS to lower operational expenses and improve charging accessibility. “EVgo’s discount program with Lyft helps keep money in drivers’ pockets,” said Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo. “This, coupled with charging during off-peak hours, helps reduce costs while easing energy demand on the grid.”
Lyft has also introduced new tools to support EV drivers, including Rides in Range, a feature developed with Smartcar that matches drivers only with trips suited to their current battery range. The company has also integrated real-time charging station data from network partners into its driver app to improve charging convenience.

According to Lyft, electric vehicle miles traveled have increased by more than 200% since 2023. The company said the progress demonstrates continued growth in EV use among its drivers and supports its broader strategy to promote sustainable urban mobility across its platform.
