Luxeed, the electric vehicle brand jointly developed by Huawei and Chery, has officially launched the RX electric coupe SUV in China, with prices starting at 259,800 yuan ($38,550).
The model is available in six variants priced at 259,800 yuan, 289,800 yuan, 319,800 yuan, 349,800 yuan, 369,800 yuan and 389,800 yuan. The entry price is 10,000 yuan below the pre-sale starting price of 269,800 yuan announced on September 20 and 40,000 yuan below the initial reservation price of 299,800 yuan announced on August 20.
Luxeed said customers placing orders during the current promotion can receive limited-time benefits worth up to 40,500 yuan.
Fourth Model Expands Luxeed Lineup
The RX is the fourth model from Luxeed, following the S7 sedan, R7 coupe SUV and V9 MPV.
The new model enters a highly competitive segment of China’s premium electric SUV market. Its pricing puts it against models including the Xiaomi YU7, whose standard version starts at 233,500 yuan, while the high-performance YU7 GT is priced from 389,900 yuan.
The Tesla Model Y and IM Motors LS6 are also positioned within the same broad price range.
800V Architecture and Up to 852 km Range
Positioned as a mid-to-large electric coupe SUV, the RX is built on Huawei’s Tuling platform. It measures 5,020 mm long, 2,007 mm wide and 1,585 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
The model introduces Huawei’s next-generation high-performance electric drive system, which has a maximum motor speed of 21,000 rpm.
The rear-wheel-drive version uses a single rear motor producing up to 277 kW (371 hp). All-wheel-drive variants combine a 160 kW motor with a 277 kW motor.
Battery choices include an 81 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack and a 100 kWh ternary lithium battery. Depending on the configuration, the RX offers CLTC driving ranges of 672 km, 702 km, 753 km, 822 km and 852 km.
All variants support 800-volt fast charging, with a 30% to 80% charging time of about 15 minutes. The quickest version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, while the braking system can bring the vehicle from 100 km/h to a standstill in 32.4 meters.
Four-LiDAR System Supports Advanced Driving
The Luxeed RX is equipped with a four-LiDAR sensor array as part of a 38-sensor system. The setup includes an 896-channel, dual-optical-path imaging LiDAR and three high-precision solid-state LiDAR units.
Luxeed said the vehicle’s architecture is designed to support Level 3 autonomous driving and incorporates redundancy across eight systems covering perception, braking, positioning, power supply, steering, communications, interaction and computing.
The company said the RX has obtained a Level 3 autonomous driving road-test permit and is undergoing testing in complex traffic conditions, including urban expressways.
Cabin Adds Multiple Displays and Smart Seats
Inside, the RX features a 26-inch augmented-reality head-up display, a 16.1-inch swiveling central touchscreen and an 8.88-inch display for the front passenger.
The SUV also features smart wraparound seats equipped with 98 pressure sensors and 27 air bladders.
Luxeed Executive Director Zhao Changjiang previously said that 70% of customers who reserved the RX were purchasing it as an additional vehicle for households that already owned a car.
