Lucid Motors, the California-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is gearing up for a head-to-head competition with European luxury car giants Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW on their home turf. The company has inaugurated a new EV retail studio in the heart of DĆ¼sseldorf, Germany, located on the renowned Kƶnigsallee, a prestigious shopping boulevard synonymous with flagship luxury brands such as Prada, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton.

This marks Lucid’s second retail location in Germany and its fifth in Europe, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to expanding its presence overseas. Zak Edson, Vice President of Sales and Service at Lucid, expressed enthusiasm about the venture, stating, “As ‘a country with a passion for cars,’ we are delighted to open our second studio in Germany.”

The centerpiece of Lucid’s European expansion is the Autobahn-tuned Lucid Air, boasting exceptional range, distinctive design, impressive performance, and rapid charging capabilities. With a WLTP range of up to 518 miles (833 km), the Lucid Air can travel from Amsterdam to Berlin on a single charge. Moreover, Lucid’s proprietary EV technology enables a substantial gain of up to 248 miles (400 km) in just 15 minutes of fast charging.

In terms of performance, the Lucid Air stands toe-to-toe, if not ahead, of its competitors, offering a choice between single- or dual-motor configurations with power outputs of up to 1,126 hp (828 kW). This translates into a remarkable acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in a mere 2.7 seconds.

Where Lucid truly shines is in the realm of range, with the base Lucid Air offering up to 450 miles (725 km) of WLTP range, significantly surpassing the base Taycan, which offers up to 275 miles (443 km) of range, and the Taycan S with up to 281 miles (452 km) of WLTP range.

Both the Lucid Air and Porsche Taycan feature premium, technology-focused interiors with spacious layouts and an array of advanced features. Lucid Motors’ expansion into Europe signifies a new player in the luxury EV market, poised to challenge the established European giants on their own turf.
