Lucid Motors, an electric vehicle manufacturer based in the United States, launched a premium electric sedan called the Lucid Air Sapphire. According to the company, its premium electric sedan can maneuver from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.
In addition, the company also claims that its premium electric sedan will be produced in large numbers to beat the Tesla model S Plaid.
The Lucid Air Sapphire will have three propulsion units, two on the rear and one on the front. From a total of three units of the driving motor, it will produce more than 1200 hp (horsepower).
Then, this electric sedan will also be equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, new sports seats, and track-tuned suspension.
Quoting Teslarati, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group, Peter Rawlinson said that the Lucid Air Sapphire builds on the company’s technical prowess to take high-performance electric cars to the next level.
āThe Sapphire finally represents the pinnacle of electric car performance that I have been looking for for a long time. Having completed the painstaking development, I can confirm that the Lucid Air Sapphire has achieved satisfactory performance, and I believe the most discerning drivers will agree,ā said Rawlinson.
Meanwhile, Derek Jenkins, Lucid’s SVP of Brand and Design, talks about why Lucid chose the name Sapphire.
āSapphire is one of the most precious gemstones, valued for its brilliance, color and hardness. Imperial Blue has long been the de facto national color for American motorsports teams involved in international competitions. As Lucid’s specialty ultra-high performance brand, Sapphire is building on this history while setting new standards for innovation and technology,” said Jenkins.
Lucid Motors said production of the Lucid Air Sapphire will begin in the first half of 2023.
For the selling price, the company will price its premium electric sedan for 249,000 US dollars.
Lucid also plans to introduce its premium electric sedan at Quail Lodge during Monterey Car Week.
