It’s been three years since Harley-Davidson introduced the LiveWire electric motorcycle. Finally, Harley-Davidson officially presents the second model of its electric vehicle line.
The LiveWire S2 DelMar was launched as a model with the 2nd electrification system, the new Arrow.
Harley-Davidson boss Jochen Zeitz stated, “The S2 Del Mar model represents the next step in the evolution of LiveWire. Del Mar’s underlying Arrow architecture, developed internally at LiveWire Labs, demonstrates our ambition to lead the EV space and make LiveWire the world’s most desirable electric motorcycle brand.”
The Arrow System 2 (S2) enables the battery pack, electronic system and motor into a single component that attaches to the Del Mar chassis. S2 will also apply to future LiveWire models. The design is modular, allowing LiveWire to adapt the platform to a variety of models. The modular design also makes it easier to assemble, with LiveWire claiming Del Mar takes 44% faster build times than LiveWire One.
DelMar is designed as a street tracker with 19″ front and rear wheels. Using Dunlop DT1 tires. The handlebar is wide and high with a footrest on the side of the motorbike, so that the sitting position is upright.
While the suspension is linked to the motor so that it is without a separate frame with a boomerang-like swingarm on the right and left sides of a straight rod. USD front suspension with single caliper disc brakes made by Brembo.
The DelMar uses a 21700 battery, while the Inverter, onboard charger and vehicle controller make up the power electronics unit. All integrated in the architecture so that the high-voltage power supply remains internal.
The motor becomes direct drive without reduction gear. The motor power is equivalent to 80 horsepower with acceleration performance from 0-96 km/h in 3.5 seconds. Its cruising range is 160 km with city mode. Equipped with driving modes according to the driver’s choice and Over The Air (OTA).
