Li Auto has unveiled the Li i9, its first family-oriented all-electric flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV), with the model scheduled to launch in September as the newest addition to the company’s flagship 9-series lineup.
Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Li Xiang introduced the vehicle in a post on Weibo, confirming its launch timeline.
“Our first family-oriented all-electric flagship SUV, a second Home. Li i9, see you in September.”
Largest SUV in Li Auto’s Portfolio
The Li i9 will feature a special “Home” badge on the rear and will be offered in a Home edition, becoming the company’s second model to receive the designation after the Li Mega multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
The SUV measures 5,225 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3,168 mm, making it the largest SUV produced by Li Auto to date.
According to Li Xiang, the dimensions provide interior space and comfort comparable to the Li Mega.
By comparison, the company’s existing all-electric flagship SUV, the Li i8, measures 5,085 mm in length with a 3,050 mm wheelbase.
Part of BEV Expansion Strategy
Li Auto first confirmed plans for the Li i9 during its March earnings call, when management said the model would debut in the second half of 2026 as part of a broader expansion of its battery electric vehicle portfolio.
At the time, Li Xiang said:
“2026 will be a critical year for Li Auto to evolve into an embodied intelligence company. Facing an increasingly competitive new energy vehicle market, we will work to raise our technology moat.”
The Li i9 forms part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its battery electric vehicle lineup and support its target of increasing annual vehicle deliveries by 20% in 2026, equivalent to approximately 490,000 vehicles.
