Li Auto said its new Li i6 electric SUV has attracted more than 20,000 firm orders within hours of launch, according to local media outlet LatePost, underscoring strong demand for the company’s expanding battery electric lineup.
The Li i6, unveiled on Friday as Li Auto’s second pure-electric SUV after the larger Li i8, is offered in a single trim priced from 249,800 yuan ($35,010). Buyers are allowed to adjust configurations or cancel within seven days, after which deposits become non-refundable. Deliveries are set to begin immediately, with display and test-drive models already available in stores.
The launch sparked heavy traffic at Li Auto showrooms across major Chinese cities. Sales staff in Shanghai and Shenzhen reported unusually large crowds, with some test drive activities expected to extend late into the evening, according to the report.
To boost early demand, Li Auto is offering a limited-time incentive package worth 35,000 yuan to customers purchasing the Li i6 by October 31. The bundle includes a 10,000 yuan cash discount, bringing the effective starting price down to 239,800 yuan, along with an air suspension system, an in-car refrigerator, and electric doors.
Measuring 4,950 mm in length, the five-seat Li i6 is smaller than the six-seat Li i8. It offers single-motor and dual-motor versions with a CLTC range of up to 720 km. The model is positioned to attract families seeking a more compact alternative to the i8, while also reinforcing Li Auto’s transition from range-extended hybrids toward fully electric vehicles.
