Li Auto witnessed its 500,000th production vehicle rolling off the assembly line. The milestone was achieved today as the Li L7, the 500,000th vehicle, was completed at the company’s manufacturing facility in Changzhou, Jiangsu province.
Li Auto, known for its innovative extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), marked a remarkable achievement by becoming the first new automotive manufacturer in China to reach the impressive 500,000-production-vehicle milestone. This accomplishment underscores the company’s rapid growth in the competitive Chinese electric vehicle market.

The journey from the debut of the first Li One vehicle in November 2019 to the production of the 500,000th vehicle took just 47 months, a testament to Li Auto’s commitment to advancing electric mobility. Notably, the company experienced remarkable progress in its recent production endeavors, with the last 100,000 vehicles rolling off the assembly line in a mere 100 days.
Li Auto currently offers a diverse range of models, including the five-seat Li L7, along with the six-seat Li L8 and Li L9, all of which fall under the category of extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), essentially operating as plug-in hybrids. The company discontinued its first production car, the Li One, last year.
August marked a record-breaking month for Li Auto, with a delivery of 34,914 vehicles, bringing the total cumulative deliveries since the company’s inception to 465,499, according to data monitored by CnEVPost. Among these deliveries, Li One units accounted for over 210,000, while Li L9 deliveries exceeded 100,000 units.
The Li L9, introduced on June 21, 2022, holds the distinction of being the inaugural model in Li Auto’s L-series. In quick succession, the Li L8 and Li L7 followed, with launches on September 30, 2022, and February 8, 2023, respectively.
Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, Li Auto has set ambitious goals, aiming to challenge a monthly delivery target of 40,000 units with its L-series models.
Furthermore, the company is poised to enter the battery electric vehicle (BEV) market with the impending launch of the Li Mega in December. Li Auto is confident that this model will emerge as the top-selling option priced above 500,000 Chinese yuan ($68,400), reiterating earlier statements made by the company.
On August 25, coinciding with the commencement of the Chengdu auto show, Li Auto unveiled plans for the official launch of the Li Mega in December. Showroom availability is expected in January of the following year, with deliveries set to commence in February. This bold move into the BEV segment reflects Li Auto’s determination to remain at the forefront of China’s electric vehicle industry.
