Hyundai Motor Group has collaborated with LG Uplus Corporation, the third largest mobile operator service provider in South Korea, to offer a unique solution for in-car wireless communication. According to reports, LG will work closely with Hyundai under the long-term contract they signed.

The agreement relates to communications services, and because of that, people may see improvements in Hyundai cars next year. A connected car is a vehicle that has a wireless communication network built into its system. This allows it to be controlled remotely and activates many infotainment applications.

LG has an agreement with Kia Corp. and Genesis, two other South Korean car manufacturers. Under the contract, LG will only offer connectivity services to the three brands for its connected vehicles. The length and cost of the contract were not disclosed by either party.

Hyundai Motors currently receives wireless service from brands such as SK Telecom Co. and KT Corp. Deals with other brands may or may not be affected due to the recent agreement signed between LG and Hyundai.

LG Uplus will start exclusively supplying wireless communication services to Hyundai from January 2023. Connected cars originating from Hyundai after January 2023 are expected to use LG’s wireless communication services.
