LG Energy Solution’s battery plant in Queen Creek, Arizona, remains on schedule to begin series production of large cylindrical battery cells in the first half of 2026, with Tesla and Rivian among the confirmed customers.
Construction of the plant, which started in November 2023, is set to be completed by late 2025. “The construction of the battery plant is well on track, with production set to start in the spring of 2026,” Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley told Korea JoongAng Daily at InterBattery 2025.

The Arizona facility will manufacture 46 mm-diameter round cells, similar to those LG Energy Solution currently produces at its Ochang plant in South Korea. Tesla is expected to be the primary customer, while Rivian has also signed an agreement to source cylindrical 4695 cells for its upcoming R2 vehicles.
The Queen Creek complex consists of two production sites: LG Energy Solution Arizona, which focuses on automotive battery production, and LG Energy Solution Arizona ESS, intended to produce LFP pouch cells for stationary energy storage systems. However, LG Energy Solution suspended construction of the ESS facility in June 2024, citing the need to adjust investment pacing, though the project remains active.

When fully operational, the entire facility is expected to have an annual capacity of 53 GWh, with 36 GWh dedicated to EV battery production and 17 GWh allocated for LFP storage batteries. Initially, the plant was set to produce 2170 round cells, but the company shifted focus in October 2023 to manufacture the larger 46-series cells.
