Lexus announced that it was ready to launch the Lexus RZ 450e on April 20, 2022. At the same time with the announcement, Lexus also shared two teaser photos of the appearance of the Lexus RZ 450e.
Interestingly, one of the teaser photos reveals the interior design of the Lexus RZ from the driver’s side.
At first glance, the interior of the Lexus RZ 450e has several design elements that are quite similar to the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra.
Call it the digital instrument screen is positioned more towards the front of the car and has a touch screen head unit that is quite large. But different from Toyota and Subaru, Lexus provides a touch of cluster design and a more unified entertainment screen.
The instrument also has a signature Lexus design, while the central touchscreen is easier to reach by hand. Another difference is in the transmission selector on the center console which is also positioned closer to the hand.
Oh yes, in this teaser, the Lexus RZ is seen using a unique yoke-shaped steering wheel that Toyota calls the One-Motion Grip.
The design of this steering wheel is very similar to the steering wheel of the Tesla Model S Plaid, but has a difference in more steering buttons.
The use of the yoke steering wheel, of course, makes it easier for the driver to look at the instrument screen without losing focus.
Not only that, the Lexus RZ yoke steering wheel also does not interfere with the visibility of the driver’s monitoring camera for the semi-autonomous Advanced Drive feature.
Now with the One-Motion Grip application, there is the potential for the Lexus RZ to be equipped with a steer-by-wire system that eliminates the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels.
