Leoni, a major automotive supplier, has announced the launch of a new business unit called ‘Charging & Power Solutions’. This new unit will integrate the company’s cable business and will focus on electromobility. The product suite, named ‘EcoSense’, will cover cables for all types of charging, including new liquid-cooled solutions for High Power Charging (HPC).
Leoni’s latest addition to its range is the liquid-cooled HPC cables, which will complement its cables for 1- and 3-phase AC charging for domestic and public charging stations as well as DC charging for fast charging systems. According to the company, all products are approved for the European, American, Japanese, and Chinese markets.
Michael Walz, Director of Sales & Product Management, has reassured customers that Leoni will continue to offer other products for the household appliance, building, and lighting industries. However, due to the high demand for their electric charging solutions, the company has redirected the focus of their development work to cater to the market’s needs.

Leoni has an in-house simulation and testing department where components are laid out virtually and tested in close collaboration with customers under real conditions during development. For production, the company operates EcoSense facilities in Germany, Poland, China, and Mexico. The plant in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico, has recently increased its production capacity by more than 40%, and the company plans to invest in more plants worldwide to cover the high demand from the market.
Walz emphasized that Leoni has put more resources into development and distribution, along with production capacity, to prepare for likely further growth. The new name of ‘Charging & Power Solutions’ reflects the changes the company has undergone in recent years and projects its vision to the outside world.
