Landian, the newly established sub-brand of the Seres Group specializing in new energy vehicles (NEVs), has commenced exporting its vehicles globally, despite being launched just two months ago. A recent press release from the brand revealed that Landian has shipped its first batch of 500 units of the Landian E5, a midsize hybrid SUV, to overseas markets on May 25. The vehicles are expected to reach their destinations within two weeks, catering to markets along the “Belt and Road.”
Seres, a prominent automotive partner of Chinese tech giant Huawei, officially introduced the Landian brand on March 30, making its first model, the plug-in hybrid E5, available to consumers. Priced at RMB 139,900 ($18,940), the Landian E5 is a mid-size SUV that comes in 5- and 7-seat variants. It incorporates cutting-edge technology from both Huawei and BYD, renowned players in their respective industries.
Under the hood, the Landian E5 boasts the F31A 1.5L PHEV-specific engine and DHT300 electric hybrid system developed by BYD’s FinDreams Power. In addition, it features Huawei’s HiCar 3.0 system, a lightweight version of the HarmonyOS designed specifically for cars. This system enables seamless connectivity with mobile phones and offers various convenient features.
The Landian E5 has garnered significant interest from dealer partners, as demonstrated during online presentations conducted by Landian with overseas dealers. The brand’s name, “Landian,” translates to “blue electricity” in Chinese and reflects its positioning as an enabler of the Internet of Everything ecosystem in the “E era,” where the letter E signifies Electric, according to Seres.
Looking ahead, the Landian brand plans to establish 340 experience stores and 160 delivery centers in 2023, as announced by Seres previously. These endeavors reflect the brand’s commitment to expanding its presence and providing enhanced customer experiences.
In terms of overall sales performance, the Seres Group reported a total of 6,917 NEVs sold in April. This figure represents a 19.12 percent decrease compared to the same period last year and an 18.73 percent decline from March. Although the group did not disclose the NEV sales for its other brands, the data provided includes 2,953 vehicles sold under the Seres brand.
As Landian embarks on its export journey, the brand’s foray into global markets is expected to further solidify its presence in the NEV sector and contribute to the wider adoption of environmentally friendly vehicles worldwide.
