The city of Kristianstad in Sweden is set to welcome a fleet of 23 electric buses. VR Kristianstad, the local transport company, has placed an order with the Polish manufacturer Solaris, marking a pivotal moment in the city’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.
The order comprises 20 Urbino 15 Electric buses and three Urbino 12 Electric buses, signifying a substantial commitment to electrifying the city’s public transport system. Scheduled for delivery in July 2024, this acquisition also marks a notable milestone as it introduces Solaris electric buses to the southern Swedish city for the first time.

The Urbino 15 LE Electric bus is a versatile electric vehicle designed to navigate both urban and intercity routes seamlessly. Equipped with batteries boasting a remarkable capacity of over 550 kWh, these buses promise exceptional autonomy and efficiency. Meanwhile, the Urbino 12 Electric bus, renowned as Solaris’ flagship low-floor city electric model within their zero-emission range, will be fitted with batteries exceeding 400 kWh in capacity. Both models will rely on a 130 kW power output via a plug-in connector for recharging their energy storage units.
Olivier Michard, a Member of the Management Board overseeing Sales, Marketing, and After Sales at Solaris Bus & Coach, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership, stating, “Every new city that decides to invest in zero-emission Solaris vehicles is another token of trust and the best proof of the high quality of our products. We are very pleased to be a partner in transforming local public transport to become more sustainable.”
