Kia’s electric vehicle (EV) is making waves in the automotive industry with its latest achievement. The 2022 Kia EV6 was recently awarded “Best of the Year” in the 41st annual MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards, and also won the title of “Best EV” alongside three other top electric vehicles.
This accolade is an important milestone for Kia, reflecting the automaker’s commitment to its “Plan S” global electrification strategy. Steven Center, COO and EVP of Kia America, expressed his excitement at the recognition the EV6 has received, saying, “The EV6 represents an important step toward Kia’s transformative ‘Plan S’ global electrification strategy, and its future-forward design, dedicated EV platform, and performance continue to impress.”

To determine the winners, MotorWeek evaluates almost 150 vehicles, taking into consideration various factors, including price, practicality, performance, and fuel efficiency. The judges choose the best models in different lifestyle categories, from family sedans to luxury cars, large utilities, and pickups. Finally, an overall “Best of the Year” winner is chosen.
John Davis, host and creator of MotorWeek, praised the Kia EV6 for its standout design, performance, and handling. He said, “The Kia EV6 is simply an outstanding, breakthrough vehicle design. Design details like its 5-door coupe-like profile, flush door handles, and unique LED lighting make it a styling leader, while being built on a dedicated EV platform means an airy interior with exceptional room front and rear.”
The EV6 has already made a strong impression in the market, with over 20,000 models sold in the U.S. in its first year after its debut in 2022. Furthermore, Kia’s commitment to electrification is reflected in its January 2023 sales, with a 128% increase in sales of its electrified models compared to January 2022.
