The Hyundai Ioniq 5 won the 2022 World Car Of The Year Award, which was announced Wednesday at the opening of the New York Auto Show. This car with a futuristic retro look beat two other electric vehicles that were also finalists, namely the KIA EV6 and the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

This year is the first time all of the World Car of the Year finalists. In addition, a special World Electric Car category was added, which was also won by Hyundai Ioniq 5 beating the Audi E-Tron GT and Mercedes-Benz EQS.

In another category, the Mercedes-Benz EQS won the World Luxury Car award and the Audi E-Tron GT won the World Performance Car category.
