Kia has confirmed that the EV5 will be exclusively launched in Canada in North America, excluding the US and Mexico from its rollout.
The model, first unveiled at the 2023 Chengdu Motor Show and released in China later that year, has now been officially confirmed for a Canadian debut, with no clear explanation for why the model will not be available in other North American markets.

The EV5 will offer customers a choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, featuring two battery options: a 60.3 kWh battery for the front-wheel drive base model and an 81.4 kWh battery for the all-wheel drive versions, providing extended range.
Inside, the five-door SUV will feature a 30-inch panoramic screen, five seats, mood lighting, and a flexible interior design with ample storage, including fold-flat rear seats and a frunk.

While the EV5 will not be sold in the US or Mexico, Canadian owners will have access to Tesla Superchargers in both countries, thanks to the inclusion of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port.
The vehicle is expected to land in Canadian dealerships in 2026, with pricing anticipated to range between $40,000 and $50,000. The EV5 will also be showcased at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto starting February 14.
