Kia announced a 14% increase in global vehicle sales for December, with a total of 236,874 units sold. Additionally, the company reported a 4.6% year-over-year growth in 2022, with 2,903,619 vehicles sold. Despite the challenges of the past year, Kia’s sales have remained strong.
In contrast to the EV6, the retail sales of the Kia Niro EV and Kia Soul EV have decreased, resulting in a decline in overall volume compared to the previous year. According to Kia’s monthly sales data report, there were 3,885 retail sales of the EV6 outside of South Korea, with 1,107 of those sales being in the US. Retail sales of the Niro EV and Soul EV outside of South Korea were 3,386 and 367, respectively (no data is available for sales within South Korea).
According to Kia, the EV6 model saw sales of nearly 80,000 units in 2022. The wholesale volume for the EV6 was over 83,000, which is a significant increase from the less than 30,000 units sold in 2021. The company has also produced a total of more than 112,000 EV6 models, with the majority (over 77,000) being exported.
Retail sales of the Kia Niro EV and Kia Soul EV outside of South Korea decreased in 2022 by 19% and 41% respectively, compared to the previous year. Despite these decreases, the overall results for Kia were positive as the company sold an estimated 132,000 all-electric cars, which represents a 51% increase from 2021.
