KGM, formerly known as SsangYong, has secured UK government purchase grant eligibility for its Torres EVX electric SUV. The model qualifies for the £1,500 Band 2 Electric Car Grant (ECG), reducing its starting price from £36,995 to £35,495.

The Torres EVX joins KGM’s Musso EV, which is already eligible for the separate £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant. The two incentives give KGM customers access to government support for both its electric SUV and electric pick-up.

Torres EVX Receives £1,500 Electric Car Grant

The Torres EVX qualifies for the Band 2 Electric Car Grant, which applies to eligible electric cars priced below £37,000.

The £1,500 grant is deducted directly from the vehicle’s purchase price by participating retailers. With the incentive applied, the Torres EVX has a starting price of £35,495 in the UK.

The model is available in two trim levels. The higher-spec K40 version starts at £39,295 before the Electric Car Grant and therefore sits above the price threshold for the incentive.

Torres EVX Uses 73.4 kWh LFP Battery

The Torres EVX is equipped with a 73.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by BYD.

Its single front-mounted electric motor produces 152 kW of power and 399 Nm of torque. KGM quotes a WLTP range of up to 287 miles (462 km).

DC fast charging is supported at up to 120 kW, with KGM quoting a 10–80% charging time of 28 minutes. The electric SUV also features vehicle-to-load functionality, allowing the battery to supply power to external electrical devices.

Musso EV Qualifies for £5,000 Van Grant

KGM’s second UK battery-electric model, the Musso EV electric pick-up, qualifies for the separate £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant.

The model launched in the UK in March and is eligible for the incentive as a commercial vehicle. The grant reduces the starting price of the entry-level Musso EV to £39,995 including VAT.

“Making the move to electric needs to work for customers financially as well as practically. With Torres EVX now benefiting from the £1,500 Electric Car Grant and Musso EV qualifying for the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, there is additional support available to help reduce that initial cost of switching,” said Kevin Griffin, Managing Director at KGM Motors UK.

The two models give KGM a presence across different segments of the UK electric vehicle market, with the Torres EVX positioned as an electric SUV and the Musso EV serving the electric pick-up market.

Torres EVX Combines Practicality With Electric Drivetrain

The Torres EVX offers a spacious cabin and practical design, while its charging performance has been identified as an area with room for improvement.

An independent 2025 test recorded a 12–80% charging time of 32 minutes. The test also highlighted the absence of battery preconditioning as a limitation compared with some competing electric vehicles.

With the addition of the Electric Car Grant, KGM’s Torres EVX now has a lower purchase price for eligible UK customers, while the Musso EV continues to benefit from the larger commercial vehicle incentive.
