Turkish manufacturer Karsan has secured new orders for its electric buses in Italy and Romania, further expanding its footprint in European public transport networks.

Karsan will supply 42 units of its e-ATAK model to Italy’s Campania region by the end of the year. The latest deal will increase the company’s presence in the area to 50 units and bring the total number of Karsan buses in Italy to 300.

The e-ATAK, an 8-meter low-floor bus, accommodates up to 52 passengers and features a 230 kW electric motor with a 300-kilometer range.

In Romania, Karsan is set to deliver 22 e-ATA electric buses to the coastal city of Constanța. The 12-meter model offers a range of up to 450 kilometers with its largest 600 kWh battery option.

The manufacturer has not disclosed which battery variant will be supplied. Following this order, Karsan will have a presence in 49 locations across Romania, with a total fleet of 525 vehicles, including previous orders from cities such as Buzău, Craiova, and Sibiu.

“Romania has special importance for us as one of the most important milestones of our growth in the field of electric public transportation,” said Karsan CEO Okan Baş. “Our goal is to have the largest electric public transport fleet in Romania by 2025, and we continue to make great strides on this path.”
